A day at Something Something Hair Salon

I have now completed my third month of making videos every single week. As we enter the fourth my buffer that I had built in December has seriously diminished. Although I’ve been filming videos almost every week, the tough part of editing and doing all the uploading admin has been eating away my time. That on top of the crazy amount of overtime I’ve been pulling at work has put me in crazy town where I end up editing and uploading videos the night before they should come out.

This video is one of those. Last weekend I had an idea to do a video about how hairdressers always cut your hair too short. I had a basic idea in my head but earlier in the day when I told my friends that’s what I┬áplanned on doing in the afternoon they wanted to join me. So with no script or plan I grabbed my filming stuff and we began filming random shots.

I was thinking that I’d come home, edit it and then fit it into my original idea with me shooting a couple of extra shots to add in. But as I edited it, the video felt like more of a stand alone glimpse into a hair salon full of troubled people. I loved the characters my friends had come up with, and began to wish we had spent more time listening to their crazy stories instead of trying to get a point across which never ended up materialising.

Hopefully one day we can re-visit these interesting people, but for now we get a glimpse into their troubles.

Some say I'm the most handsome man in the world (my mom), others tend to disagree, but one thing is certain - I love to entertain. Whether it be through music, writing, or film, seeing people respond with a smile is worth more than a bag of gold. Figuratively obviously, because smiles are free and gold is very expensive.
